The annual EWS is a revolving site shelter that is hosted by participating faith communities on the coast throughout the winter season. This year, the EWS started on December 17th and will run through mid-April 2019 depending on availability of funds.
Because of new eligibility and data tracking requirements and for staff safety reasons, we ask that those seeking shelter in the EWS be pre-screened at the Hospitality Center at 101 N Franklin Street in Fort Bragg Monday through Friday, 9:AM to 12:PM or 1:PM to 3:PM. Screenings are not available on weekends or holidays. Screenings only need to completed once per season.
Due to limited funding, there will be no meals served for EWS participants on weekdays. Rather, we ask that people go have a meal at the Hospitality house Shelter, 237 N McPherson Street, at 3:PM-4:PM each weekday before going to the EWS staging area. On weekends when the EWS is open, we will provide a “bagged lunch” type meal to participants to be eaten at the staging area.
The staging area, open to pre-screened and approved participants at 5:PM on open nights, is located at the Fort Bragg Food Bank located at 910 N Franklin Street in Fort Bragg.
We are emailing OPEN or CLOSED notifications daily to our distribution list and our notification phone message (707-961-0172 Option 1) will be updated Monday through Friday by 9:30 AM.
